GROWING UP GREEN! Wake up! Wake up! Inciting the Cancer Bats!

In the early 2000’s I did a show in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Pumphuset. I have done shows in that venue since 1989 when I first had Sacred Reich there. It’s an older stone building with a kickass outdoor area, situated in a busy area of the city.

One year when Soulfy played there, I was lucky to have time to check out the opening act, a Canadian band called Cancer Bats. They were badass!!! I made sure to meet the guitar player and tell him that I felt they would be successful if they kept at it. And they did...

Some years later, Incite got fortunate to be offered some UK gigs with the Cancer Bats. Shizzle got real and now, fast forward to 2019 and both bands teamed up again to molten the UK with their Metal!

Liam Cormier is rad AF! Super chill and a Goliath on stage, he commands his ship like a warrior! I’m calling on our UK Tribe to gather our savages and check this tour out! Don’t be delusional! Get caught in the mosh!

GROWING UP GREEN! Wake up!! Wake up!! GBH and Max Wrangle a Wall!

On the Arise tour, I know it was Texas...maybe Houston...the tour entourage and Colin of GBH ended up in my hotel room partying. It seemed like trouble, so I went outside to scope out the hotel. When I returned, Max and Colin were playing a ginormous game of tic tax toe on the wall with a Sharpie.

Turning into Party Pooper, while adding up damages in my mind, I tried unsuccessfully to break up the party. I decided it was hopeless so I went out to sleep in a lounge chair by the pool. Bright and early, I woke up to a tap tapping on my Dr Marten’s. The security was pretty cool but God knows what he thought about a leather jacketed, dyed haired woman snoozing by the pool.

I went in my deserted, trashed room and observed the remains of a game gone sour. I couldn’t sneak out and feel good so I went to the front desk and cut a deal to pay $222 for one wall to be wall papered. Quite a fee in the early ‘90’s!!

GROWING UP GREEN! Wake up! Wake up! Grab your passport! Europe calling!

Last week, we headed out on a 7 week European/UK tour. We flew Condor Airlines for the first time and it was pretty cool, actually. Frankfort, Germany was the epicenter of our meeting up with the band and crew. We piled in the bus and took off for Poland’s Mystic Festival.

The band did a meet and greet signing in the afternoon and then ripped the horizon a new a@s with a stunning setlist of old and new tracks from The Ritual!

Leipzig, Germany was up to bat next! Jet lag setting in with everyone made the days long and our lead boots heavier and heavier. The weather is the hottest since 1914 and no venues have AC. Europe was always somewhat cooler and the buildings old so AC is a rare delicacy. This combination made everyone slightly low on energy. The packed Hellraizer Club gave us a second wind though!!!

Auschaffenberg, an hour from Frankfort was next on our stampede. We have been at the Colos-Saal several times and we know what to expect! Rabid German Tribe members, good catering and no bus parking. All cool because the fans give us what we want! The dressing room is especially memorable since our son, Igor, celebrated two birthdays here and I had one also.

Tomorrow is France, with the French Tribe and that delicious French cuisine! See you there! We have only just begun!

GROWING UP GREEN! Wake up!! Wake up!! One more peak in the past before we head to Europe!

In the early ‘80’s, when we had the Bootleggers’ Metal Club, the first foreign bill of bands we were discussing bringing over was the package of Celtic Frost, Voivod and Running Wild. Their agent sent me a really cool press kit and I was surprised to find these photos in Igor’s scrapbook of Dana’s memorabilia. These were from 1985. The police stole the club before we were able to confirm the dates and the rest is history!!

After the club was taken, I dabbled in promoting shows at other venues. One of the bands I brought to Phoenix was Nuclear Assault, who became close friends with our family. They even stayed at our house a few times, which drive the neighbors into a frenzy!

Atrophy was a band in Tucson who I discovered from their demo Chemical Dependency. I got them a deal with Roadrunner Records and for one year they were the number one selling act at Roadrunner. One of their albums, Violent By Nature, featured a 4 year old Richie Cavalera on the cover, which was designed by the amazing Paul Stottler. I still love their music!

I will be going to Europe tomorrow for 7 weeks with Soulfly and a couple grandkids in tow, so be sure to check out my blogs which will take you on tour with us!! Thank you all for sharing!
